Xander and I went to our first baseball game together at Durham Bulls stadium . We went on Monday night to see the US Olympic baseball team take on the Canadian team before both head out to China for the real competition.
After arriving and doing a quick tour of the souvenir shop we ordered a couple of foot long hot dogs and were in search of a place to sit and enjoy our ballpark cuisine. While deciding, a park employee approached us and asked if he could give Xander a ball. He presented Xander with a USA team baseball from practice. With a lot of thanks you's to the gentleman for the ball we talked about how to handle a team ball. We used the movie The Sandlot as our reference and he won't let anyone touch it now.
Xander was into learning about the game while we watched warm ups. There really isn't a bad seat in the house. We were seated right near first base. We made it 4 innings before moving to the on site play ground near right field. It was longer than I expected. We did get to see the US hit 2 home runs and the Bull do its thing. No one hit the Bull however. It was impossible not to think about the movie when a couple of infielders ran in to talk to the pitcher on the mound. Buckets of chicken and candle sticks come to mind.
We left around the 6th inning and well after Xanders normal bed time. A worthy reason to stay up late if you ask us.

Sigh...man, do I miss that ballpark! Harbor Park is unique with its Norfolk waterfront location, but the Durham Bulls' stadium has charm! Where else can you win Johnsonville brats on a home run! Glad Xander enjoyed it!
